Microsoft jumps on the bandwagon
The fact that even Microsoft perceived the importance of the perimeterless network (although they call it anywhere access) shows the impact of the topic. For a quick introdcution I suggest the Video (WMA stream) showing Bill Gates and Craig Mundie talking about the de-perimeterization of the LAN and the approaching technologies to implement the PLN.
On my own Account
Well, this is probably a little bit off topic but anyway. It is always good to be in a good mood when working and how could one achieve this better than with a nice tune in the background. Since Netzwelt has a link directory with MP3s that one may download for free, I wrote a little script to parse the webpages for the MP3 files. The result is attached (mp3s.txt). To kickoff the download a simple line such as
wget -c -i mp3s.txt
is sufficient and the fun may begin.
Well, so much for now…
2007-01-14 Birth of the PLN
This paragraph was originally posted on the outdated website
The Perimeterless Network (PLN) tries to give the vision of the Jericho Fourm a more concrete shape. In fact, the goal is to create a completely open and accessible enterprise network infrastructure with the help of Open-Source software while retaining the maximum level of security.
At the moment the brainstorming phase has just begun. To be honest, there is not much more than the idea. In the near future more and more documents will be published on this site that explain the concepts behind the PLN. Next will be the introducing paper as well as the mindmap of the brainstom.
Participation
A project of this size sure needs support in every way. If you think this vision is worth to be realized and you have any ideas that may contribute, please feel free to contact us. Everybody is welcome, nothing is worthless.
Although the PLN is rather a set of documents than a programmatical work, we do need programmmers, webdesigners, visionaries, translators, technical engineers, and so on. If you really want to contribute there sure is something you can do.
